Chapter 1: “A Mystery Box”

It’s June 18th, and it was “Raining cats and dogs” and I found a Mystery Box.

I was just chilling on the couch watching a movie when, all of a sudden, my roommate, Chandler, switched the channel and started watching the news (which was terrifying). They said all food sources have been cut due to acid rain made by the smoke waste of factories. I couldn’t believe it.

Later that night, there was a knock on the door. I went to check and saw a Mystery box, and it said: “You’ll need it.” I thought it was some sort of prank and put it in the basement. Then, in the morning, we saw in the news that people were getting infected by the poisoned food and were acting strangely, like they were trying to tell something but couldn’t.

One week later, their skin and blood started to become green, and more people were infected, getting more aggressive, so the government ordered a quarantine.

Slowly, this virus spread so much that it was named “The Green Bite” virus. At first, 15 people, complete zombies, and now, 6000 is the total number of zombies. Chandler and I  found out and decided to switch cities.

While packing, I also took the box without telling Chandler. When we reached the city in our van, it was also infected; not a single survivor was found.

We found shelter quietly (as noise triggers zombies). I went upstairs to unpack. I heard Chandler scream because of a spider (because he has arachnophobia), and yeah, it triggered the zombies. They broke the door and came after Chandler.

He called for help. I panicked about what to do, but I remembered the Mystery Box. I quickly opened the Mystery Box and grabbed what came first in my hand: a shotgun. Chandler was cornered.

Chandler: HELP!! 

                               BANG !!

                                                  BANG !!

      (Yelling, gunshots, bloodshed, me ejecting shells and arousing horror)

I actually saved him. He was astonished and asked me where I got the gun from, and I told him the whole story of the box, and we took a look in it.

There were: 2 first aid kits, 6 MREs, several liters of water, loads of ammo, an axe, a revolver, a Swiss pocket knife, and the shotgun, in the Mystery Box but the mystery was who gave us the box.

We survived for days, checking supermarkets, gun shops, and hospitals for loot to survive. Then one day, Chandler found a newspaper saying Mexico has the cure, so you know the drill; we went to Mexico. We told them how we survived, and they in turn, gave us knowledge on how to make the cure naturally, artificially, and some tactics to survive.
